Sheriff’s office: Man, 80, fatally shoots man, 51, in Mason County

An 80-year-old man shot and killed a 51-year-old acquaintance after a fight, according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said police and medics were called to the 100 block of West Chappell Crossing, six miles west of Shelton,  around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday where they found the 51-year-old man mortally wounded. The sheriff’s office said the two men knew each other, but were not related. The nature of the dispute that sparked the shooting was not immediately disclosed.

The 80-year-old was not injured and was cooperating with police, according to tweets from the sheriff’s office.
