Spokane officer finds stolen presents, delivers them

The Associated Press

SPOKANE — Spokane police say one of their officers had a busy day, not only recovering a stolen vehicle and arresting a car theft suspect but finding several stolen Christmas presents and delivering them to their rightful owners.

Police spokeswoman Monique Cotton says Corporal Zachary Dahle spotted a man on Monday morning standing outside a vehicle, apparently stealing outgoing mail from mailboxes. When the man spotted the officer, he jumped into the stolen car and tried to flee. Dahle stopped the vehicle and arrested the 18-year-old driver.

Cotton says stolen Christmas presents, mail, Social Security cards and methamphetamine were found inside the vehicle.

Christopher C. Bacon was arrested for investigation of counts including vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, identity theft and possession of a controlled substance.

Dahle then delivered the stolen Christmas presents to the addresses listed on each.
