State Patrol: Wash. woman pinned under car has died

The Associated Press

The Washington State Patrol says a 71-year-old Bainbridge Island woman who was walking with her two grandchildren in a parking lot when she was struck and pinned under a car has died.

The patrol says Katherine Dunn was injured last Friday and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Assistant Fire Chief Luke Carpenter said Friday that the male driver was backing out of a carport and didn’t see the woman or the children. He also hit the 3-year-old grandson. The little boy was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The granddaughter was unhurt.

The State Patrol says the driver is 91. The accident is under investigation.
