Stolen car crashes into Seattle building

Seattle police are searching for a group of suspects who reportedly fled from a car that crashed into a daycare in downtown Seattle early Thursday morning.

Police were called to the 1800 block of 8th Avenue just after 2 a.m. for a report of a car smashing through the window of KinderCare. The witness told police that they saw three people run from the car after the crash.

Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore said the Toyota Camry struck a light pole, narrowly missed hitting a fire hydrant, and then smashed through a plate-glass window at the daycare center. The car burst into flames, causing the building’s sprinkler and fire alarm system to go off – awakening residents in apartment homes above the daycare center. Some residents evacuated the building, Moore said.
