Kent police say the driver of a vehicle that was struck by a Sound Transit train was able to escape without injury on Tuesday evening.
Kent police Cmdr. Jarod Kasner said the vehicle got caught on the tracks when the barrier arms descended. The driver saw the southbound Southline No. 1515 train coming and was able to get out before the vehicle was struck.
There were no major injuries reported, he said.
According to a spokesman for Sound Transit, the collision happened near the Sounder Station in Kent at around 5:30 p.m.
Sound Transit said other trains will experience delays as a result. Train No. 1517, which left Seattle at 5:42 p.m., is being held at the Tukwila Station. Train No. 1519, with a scheduled 6:12 p.m. Seattle departure, is being held at King Street Station until further notice.
