Woman in serious condition after Seattle house fire

An elderly woman is in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center after suffering burns and inhaling smoke during a house fire in Seattle on Friday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the fire near 39th Avenue South and South Mead Street at about 2:49 p.m., said Seattle Fire Department spokeswoman Sue Stangl. By 3:30 p.m. the fire was out.

The five people who live in the home were outside when emergency personnel arrived, Stangl said.
