2 killed in head-on crash on Highway 9 near Marysville

The Associated Press

MARYSVILLE — The Washington State Patrol says two people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision Friday afternoon on Highway 9 near Marysville.

Trooper Mark Francis told The (Everett) Herald a northbound Ford pickup apparently crossed the centerline and struck a Saturn around 12:15 p.m. The man and woman in the Saturn were pronounced dead at the scene. The man and woman in the Explorer were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.

Francis says the people who died appeared to be middle-aged. Those taken to the hospital were older. Traffic was blocked in both directions of Highway 9 after the crash.
