Southbound I-5 in Tacoma reopens after crash

Update at 3:50 p.m.: All lanes of southbound Interstate 5 near Fife are open, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. The backup is eight miles.

Original post: All lanes of southbound Interstate 5 are blocked in Tacoma near Wapato Creek at milepost 137, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Traffic is being diverted to the Port of Tacoma Road and then back onto I-5.

The backup extends to the King/Pierce county line, WSDOT tweeted at 2:42 p.m.
