Workers will need to close the right northbound lane of Highway 9 in Woodinville for two days to remove a beaver dam, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced.
The work, one mile north of the Highway 522 junction, will free water to flow through an 80-foot-long culvert that’s blocked. If the dam stays, soil could be scoured away beneath the highway, or water might even pond on the pavement, the agency says.
Traffic delays on the four-lane road are expected in the afternoon, said spokeswoman Harmony Haveman Weinberg. The emergency repairs begin at 7:30 a.m. Thursday and might last until Friday evening.
