Deputy shoots as patrol car rammed on Vashon Island

UPDATE, 7:15 a.m.: King County Sheriff reports that suspect was taken into custody on the island without incident around 4:30 a.m.

Original post: A King County Sheriff’s deputy fired at a man who rammed a patrol car, the department said at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

The person drove off, and the department is asking the public to call 911 if anyone sees a 1976 red Ford pickup that is missing a tailgate and rear license plate. “Don’t approach it,”  a sheriff’s follow-up tweet warned.

Deputies have been searching the island for someone they described as a suspect in threats and/or vehicular assault. Further details weren’t immediately available.
