OLYMPIA — Washington Gov. Jay Inslee wants to give electric cars a free ride on state ferries and highway toll lanes.
His transportation proposal also calls for subsidies for charging stations and giving up the sales tax on alternative-fuel vehicles.
The governor’s transportation adviser, Charles Knutson, told The Daily Herald Inslee hopes the incentives will help boost the number of electric vehicles on the road in Washington from about 10,000 today to 50,000 in five years.
