The suspect is black, in his 40s or 50s, and was wearing a black jacket and black knit cap on the day of the assault, police said. He was last seen running from the bus after stabbing the victim.

Police said the victim entered the bus and sat down next to a man, who began to argue with him about how close the two were sitting. The man stabbed the victim with a knife multiple times, according to police, then got off the bus at Third Avenue and Marion Street and fled shortly after 6 p.m.

Police said the victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening wounds. He later was listed in stable condition and was expected to survive, police said.

Police ask that anyone with information on the suspect, or any passengers aboard the bus who may have witnessed the attack, please call the Seattle Police Department’s homicide tip line at (206) 233-5000.
