Eastbound I-90 closed briefly, now open; chains required

Interstate 90 eastbound was closed briefly at milepost 47, Denny Creek, early Sunday afternoon because of vehicle spin-outs in the slush and snow blocking the highway over Snoqualmie Pass, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Chains are required on Snoqualmie Pass for all vehicles without all-wheel drive. Traction tires are required for Stevens Pass, advised for Blewett and White mountain passes.

A strong warm front bearing down on western Washington is expected to bring heavy rain in the lowlands through Monday and snow in the mountains, which will turn to rain Sunday night.
