It’s Blue Friday in the Land of the Seahawks.
The city’s thoroughly amped for NFC Championship Game when Seattle takes on the Green Bay Packers at 12:05 p.m. Sunday at CenturyLink Field.
Transit buses flashed “Go Seahawks” along with route numbers. Blue 12th Man flags hang from windows and the tops of buildings. Cranes sport blue and green lights.
Seattle legend Walter Jones raised the 12th Man flag at the Space Needle Friday morning and hundreds of fans attended a rally at Westlake Park.
The celebration included former players, the Sea Gals cheerleaders and Blitz the mascot. It appeared everyone was wearing a Seahawks jersey, jacket or hat, or at least the color blue for Blue Friday.
At one point the crowd took up the chant “No cheese! No cheese!” but no harm came to a smattering of cheesehead Packer fans.
Just announced today: Alice in Chains will play at the game’s halftime show.
