Briana said ‘yes’

She said “yes,” perhaps proving the power of newspaper advertising.

Rob Schwertley, advertising sales manager at The Seattle Times, issued a bold Valentine’s Day proposal, with a full-page ad asking, “Briana, Will you marry me? Love, Robbie.”

The ad drew attention on Twitter and Facebook, with everyone wondering whether the gambit worked.

Word came late Saturday: Robbie’s intended had indeed accepted.

The black-and-white ad ran on the back of the page of the newspaper’s front section.

On Monday, Schwertley declined to say how much he paid for the ad, for which he received an employee discount, saying it was a personal matter.
