Is that a giant rat in the wall? No, just a burglar

The Associated Press

A burglary suspect who cut through a Pioneer Square apartment building’s drywall in an attempt to escape became trapped in an air duct and had to be rescued by firefighters.

KIRO reports a resident of the apartment building caught the man Tuesday night stealing quarters from a soda machine in the laundry room of the Prudential building.

The man blocked the door and tried to get away by cutting through drywall. When he ran into a basement masonry wall he tried to crawl out the vent but became stuck and had to call for help.

Firefighters cut him free. When they asked if he needed medical attention, he said, “heroin.”
