HILLSBORO, Ore. — A Chase bank ATM in Hillsboro withstood an attempted break-in by two men with a chainsaw.
Police say they pulled up to the drive-through ATM about 4 a.m. Sunday and attempted to cut the machine open. They were unsuccessful.
KOIN reports ATMs have been the target of more than a half-dozen break-ins since November in Portland. Thieves have been targeting the cash machines in Walgreens and Rite Aid stores where they crash a vehicle through the front doors in an attempt to steal the entire machine.
