Woman says she was mistakenly bitten by Spokane police dog

The Associated Press

SPOKANE β€” A woman who called 911 to report an apparent break-in says she was mistakenly bitten by a Spokane police dog that was searching for suspects.

The Spokesman-Review reports a federal lawsuit was filed last week on behalf of Natasha Hernandez.

She was staying at a motel with her children in March 2013 when she reported a burglary. She was carrying a basket of laundry a short time later when the police dog rounded the corner and bit here in the stomach.

Her lawsuit seeks $38,000 for physical and emotional harm.

A city spokesman says it’s reviewing the lawsuit.
