Seattle Men’s Chorus names new director

More than a year after longtime Seattle Men’s Chorus and Seattle Women’s Chorus director Dennis Coleman announced his plans to retire, his replacement has been found.
Paul Caldwell, who has worked as the artistic director for the Youth Choral Theatre of Chicago, the Windy City Gay Chorus and the Windy City Treble Quire, will take over on Aug. 1, according to the chorus’ parent organization, Flying House Productions. He will arrive in Seattle in the new few months.
Caldwell is credited with revitalizing the Windy City Gay Chorus and Treble Quire while doubling its membership. He is also a conductor who made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2014; and a composer whose work has been performed at The Kennedy Center.
Coleman, who has directed the two Seattle choirs for 35 years, will stay to ensure a smooth transition.
“I’m proud to pass the baton to him and look forward to seeing how he builds on our mission to entertain and inspire,” Coleman said in a statement.
