Fireboat Alki: Bidding tops $23,000; nine days left

In its first of 10 days on the auction block, the City of Seattle’s 1927-vintage Fireboat Alki has attracted some 30 bids, with a high bid of $23,800 as of 2 p.m. Tuesday. Town in turmoil: Pacific may go out of business
