SPOKANE (AP) — A woman trying to shoplift a bottle of wine in Spokane smashed it over the head of Hillyard Grocery employee Jason Hill Thursday evening when he confronted her going out the door.
The Spokesman-Review reports she chased him around the parking lot with pieces of broken glass until he threw her to the ground by her hair.
A witness helped hold the 29-year-old woman until police arrived and arrested her for investigation of robbery. Despite a cut on his head, Hill went back to work.

A man armed with a pipe walked into an Everett mini-mart on Saturday, beat the clerk and took the drawer from the cash register.
The clerk, a 54-year-old Everett woman, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries to her head and hands, said Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell. The thief fled in a waiting vehicle.
The incident occurred about 11:40 a.m. at a store in the 2600 block of 16th Street. The man didn’t speak before hitting the clerk. He then threw the cash register to the floor and broke it. He took the cash drawer and left, getting into a silver or beige colored minivan that appeared to be a model from the early 2000s.
Everett police say the suspect is about 5-feet-7 in his early 20s. He wore a multicolored baseball cap, and a dark jacket and pants. The driver of the van was described as a white female with dark, shoulder length hair.
