Police are looking for an alleged gang member accused of killing a young father early Saturday morning near Puyallup, reportedly because the victim disrespected him.

Eric Contreras, 22, shot Victor Zaldivar, 21, of Orting at close range in the chest after the victim refused to offer him beer at a party, according to Pierce County documents charging the suspect with first-degree murder.

Contreras is described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-6, about 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He’s known to frequent Tacoma and Lakewood, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

When Contreras and other uninvited gang members allegedly tried to crash the private birthday party with about 50 guests, Zaldivar was one of the first to make it clear the party was not one with an open invitation for anyone dropping by, according to the victim’s friend Eric Estrada, 26.
