PORTLAND — A federal judge in Portland has delayed the trial of a couple accused in a Northwest crime spree that claimed four lives.
On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Ancer Haggerty decided to postpone the trial of David “Joey” Pedersen and Holly Ann Grigsby two more months, from May 5 to July 7 next year.
The Oregonian reports Grigsby’s lawyers also asked for another delay. They want the judge to postpone until next year hearings that will determine whether Attorney General Eric Holder pursues the death penalty. The judge said he would decide on that request by Monday.
Pedersen and Grigsby are accused of a white-supremacist conspiracy in the 2011 killing of an Oregon man, a California man and Pedersen’s father and stepmother, Red and Dee Dee Pedersen of Everett.

PORTLAND — David “Joey” Pedersen told a federal judge he wants to be tried without further delay on charges related to a 2011 killing spree, and won’t fight the threat of a death sentence.
Pedersen and co-defendant Holly Ann Grigsby are accused of a white supremacist conspiracy in the killing of an Oregon man, a California man and Pedersen’s father and stepmother, David Jones “Red” Pedersen and Leslie Pedersen, of Everett.
The 32-year-old Pedersen told The Oregonian last fall he is ready to die in the case. On Tuesday, he informed Judge Ancer Haggerty that he has instructed his lawyers not to present a case against capital punishment.
The government has not said whether it will pursue the death penalty.
The Oregonian reports that the judge told Pedersen he wants the trial to start in May.

A 25-year-old Portland woman has pleaded not guilty to federal charges in a Northwest crime spree that claimed four lives.
The Oregonian reports that Holly Ann Grigsby was arraigned Thursday in U.S. District Court in Portland. A grand jury indictment accuses Grigsby and 32-year-old David “Joey” Pedersen of Salem of promoting and funding a movement to “purify” and “preserve” the white race through murder.
They are charged in the killing, kidnapping and robbery of four people last fall: Pedersen’s father, David “Red” Pedersen, and stepmother, Leslie “DeeDee” Pedersen, on Sept. 26 in Everett, Wash.; Cody Myers, a 19-year-old from Oregon on Oct. 1; and Reginald Clark, 53, of Eureka, Calif., on Oct. 3.
Pedersen is already serving life without parole at the Monroe, Wash., Correctional Complex after pleading guilty to the slayings of his father and his stepmother. He is expected to be arraigned on the federal charges next month.
