Kayaker dies near Bainbridge Island

UPDATE,  5:50 a.m. | An overdue kayaker found unresponsive by the Coast Guard off Bainbridge Island has been declared dead at a Seattle hospital. Body of kayaker recovered from Stillaguamish River

Search-and-rescue personnel on Monday recovered the body of a kayaker from the south fork of the Stillaguamish River near Granite Falls. A 24-year-old kayaker drowned Sunday afternoon on the Stillaguamish River. A Tokyo man is making a solo journey from Kennewick to Japan in a 20-foot sea kayak, the Tri-City Herald reports.
