Turnover at the top for King County Library System

Both the King County Library System director, Bill Ptacek, and its director of finance, Linda Glenicki, have turned in their resignations, saying they want to do something new.

They said their resignations are amicable.

Ptacek, 63, has been with the library for 25 years and spoke proudly that in 2011 it was named “Library of the Year” by the Library Journal.

In 2012, the library handled 10.1 million visitors and leads the U.S., Canada and Australia in eBook circulation.

Ptacke’s resignation is effective Feb. 1. Julie Brand, head of community relations and marketing for the library, will be the interim director until a replacement is hired.
