Seattle police say they have arrested a 34-year-old man for lewd conduct near Chief Sealth High School in West Seattle.
The man was arrested after a 17-year-old female student who was walking to school reported she saw the man masturbating while sitting in a dark blue minivan parked on the street in the 2400 block of SW Thistle Avenue about 8:30 a.m.
Police say they are questioning him but that detectives don’t yet know if he’s the same man responsible for recent similar incidents reported near West Seattle schools.
In recent weeks police have been at Holy Rosary School and Westside School in West Seatte investigating reports of a man exposing himself to children. It’s unclear whether this incident is related.
No arrests have been made in those prior incidents.

A 45-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning after he exposed himself to children who were waiting to get their pictures taken with Santa at a downtown Seattle store, according to police.
Police said the man was lurking around a group of children with his zipper down and his genitals exposed at a store at Fifth Avenue and Pine Street. The man was seen drinking a bottle of hard lemonade, police said.
A police account does not name the store.
Police said the man had been arrested for lewd conduct just two days earlier when officers found him masturbating in front of a bank on 13th Avenue and East Madison Street in the middle of the night.
The man has been booked into the King County Jail for investigation of indecent exposure.
