The Morning Memo / Friday: VIADOOM#%@*, pumpkins, lingerie football

Weather: As you can see over there on the right, showers today and tomorrow, maybe Sunday. But more importantly, the temp isn’t supposed to get out of the 50s at all for the next 6 days. I think they call that autumn. Details.

Traffic: Dismantling the viaduct: OK, if you don’t know that our favorite, often-maligned, earthquake-rattled, heavily used, elevated roadway is going to be closed from 7:30 p.m. today until 5 a.m. Oct. 31, we are here to say, again: THE VIADUCT WILL BE CLOSED STARTING TONIGHT! Here’s staff reporter Mike Lindblom’s blowout story on the closure. Caution: ‘Viadoom’ ahead. And here’s your Viaduct closure guide.

More traffic: The Seattle Department of Transportation is expected to release its 2010 traffic report later this morning, providing data it has collected on traffic volumes, collision rates and enforcement within the city.

Pumpkins and such: If you have little tykes, or big ones for that matter, pumpkins and corn mazes abound this weekend. Have a look. Just don’t get lost  in a maze like that family did earlier this month in Massachusetts.

We’re No. 4 among the top 20 cities for Trick or Treat this year!

But wait, we’re slipping. We were No. 1 last year.

Zillow’s rankings are based on four equally weighted data variables: its  Home Value Index, population density, Walk Score and local crime data, according to  Zillow. The bottom line:  Seattle is among the top cities when it comes to providing the most candy and the least walking and safety risks, according to the online real-estate database company.

Here are the numbers:

Zillow 2011 Trick-or-Treat Index

Rank City Rank City
1 San Francisco 11 Minneapolis
2 Boston 12 Pittsburgh
3 Honolulu 13 San Diego
4 Seattle 14 Cleveland
5 Chicago 15 Miami
6 San Jose, Calif. 16 Denver
7 Washington 17 Milwaukee
8 Los Angeles 18 Virginia Beach, Va.
9 Philadelphia 19 Baltimore
10 Portland, Ore. 20 Albuquerque, NM
