UPDATE 8:11 p.m.: The body of the man who died today at Rattlesnake Ridge was found about 150 feet below the ledge his friend said he’d fallen from.
The woman told responding officers that she and the man had hiked to the top of the ridge, where she was taking pictures of him. He slipped and fell as he was trying to jump to a rock, according to a news release from the King County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies are withholding further details on the man until his family has been notified of his death.
ORIGINAL POST: The King County Sheriff’s Office says a hiker has fallen to his death at Lookout Point near Rattlesnake Lake near North Bend.
A rescue crew found the man’s body just before noon, said Sgt. Cindi West. She did not know how far he had fallen.
West says they heard about the accident in a phone call from a woman who was hiking in the same area.
Other details were not immediately available, but West says the rescue crew will carry the body out.
