Renters, open your wallets: If you think your rent went up a crazy amount, and you are telling your friends around the country how expensive Seattle is – here’s some facts to back you up. Apartment rents in the Seattle area rose faster in the past year than in any other metropolitan area traced by a leading research firm. The average asking rent in the Seattle area rose 6 percent over the past 12 months (reaching $1,150), bigger increases than in San Francisco and Boston, for instance. Ouch!
