Authorities say two people in a stolen pickup truck in Lynnwood led State Patrol troopers on a chase down Interstate 405, dodging spike strips before finally being stopped in Renton.
The chase began around 7:20 a.m. Monday after troopers clocked a pickup going 78 mph on Interstate 5. The driver refused to stop and troopers ran the license plate, discovering that the pickup had been reported stolen.
Trooper Mark Francis said several troopers eventually joined in the chase as it went south on I-405, using spike strips at three location in an attempt to stop the truck. The chase ended when troopers used a driving maneuver to stop the truck as it drove into Renton. Police arrested the driver and a passenger.

A 30-year-old Snohomish County man was taken into custody after he fired a gun at officers following a car chase that led from Marysville to Everett, police said.
Yhe incident began shortly after 11 a.m. when the driver of a full-sized pickup without license plates refused to pull over, according to Marysville police. The driver of the truck led police down state Highway 529 into Everett where the pickup struck a parked car near the intersection of 14th Street and Hoyt Avenue.
“The suspect fled on foot from the truck, firing a handgun at officers as he ran,” said Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux. “Officers did not return fire. It was later learned the pickup truck had been stolen earlier in the day.”
Officers from Marysville, Everett, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and the State Patrol set up a search area and brought in dogs to look for the man He was soon found and arrested without incident, police said.
