Last fall’s Goat Mountain Fire caused by target shooters

Last fall’s Goat Mountain Fire in Okanogan County was caused by people shooting at exploding targets, the U.S. Forest Service announced today. No one has been arrested in connection with the blaze that burned 7,378 acres. Lightning storm starts more than 65 wildfires in Washington

A lightning storm stretching from Klickitat to Okanogan counties started more than 65 wildfires Saturday night through this morning, according to the U.S. Forest Service.  The Wenatchee River Ranger District reports 12 fires, most in the lower Wenatchee Valley, but extending to Lake Wenatchee.  The priority is the Canyons Fire, the Forest Service said this morning. That fire is reported at 10-plus acres in…
