Cab driver pistol-whipped, robbed near Yesler Terrace early this morning

A 21-year-old man was arrested by Seattle police early this morning after officers say he was part of a group that pistol-whipped and robbed a cab driver near Yesler Terrace. Seattle City Council approves Yesler Terrace rebuild

The Seattle City Council approved today an agreement that clears the way for the Seattle Housing Authority to dramatically rebuild Yesler Terrace, which opened in 1941 as the city’s first public housing project. Housing Authority commissioner resigns over Yesler Terrace plans

A Seattle Housing Authority Commissioner resigned Tuesday night over redevelopment plans for Yesler Terrace. Yusuf Cabdi said plans to sell parts of Yesler Terrace to private developers to fund more low-income housing are risky and don’t provide enough protection for current residents. “They’re not paying attention to the needs of tenants,” Cabdi said by phone today….
