Midas touch

White was the fashionable color at the NBA All-Star game, but gold is the accent of choice by the women at the WNBA midseason showcase.
Sacramento guard Ticha Penicheiro, who was honored as a legend during a timeout, wore killer gold espadrilles, while Connecticut All-Star Taj McWilliams-Franklin had gold stilettos for stepping out after the game. Los Angeles All-Star Lisa Leslie wore Nikes trimmed in gold and orange — not the best combo, but, still, the gold look sweet.
Funny tale about McWilliams-Franklin’s shoes, they were near East teammate Tamika Whitmore’s locker. When Whitmore was asked if the shoes were hers, she gave a crazy look and McWillams-Franklin busted in to make sure it was known that they were hers.
“There’s only one diva in the East locker room,” she said with a snap of the fingers. “Actually 1.5 because AB [Washington guard Alana Beard] thinks she’s one. She’s a diva in training.”
For the record, Beard had approximate 3-inch snakeskin heels to wear this evening. But they weren’t gold, so she does have some catching up to keep within WNBA style.
