Injuries mounting

Lauren Jackson was replaced in the starting lineup by center Tiffani Johnson because of plantar fasciitis in the All-Star forward’s left foot. Jackson, who also suffers from stress fractures in her shin in the same leg, went through her normal warm-up routine but decided 10 minutes before the game not to play.
In addition, All-Star Sue Bird is hampered by a sore left foot. Bird said trainers cannot figure out exactly what the problem is. She switched shoes when she originally suffered the injury in a loss against Indiana on June 9. Bird played 33 minutes, but has missed practice due to inflamation in the foot. She is currently wearing an older pair of shoes, which are providing a little more comfort, and started in Tuesday’s game.
“I wanted something I was 100 percent certain about,” Bird said.
