Big apology

Sparks coach Joe Bryant said he placed forward Chamique Holdsclaw in the starting lineup because it was always his intention to play his two top players, Holdsclaw and All-Star Lisa Leslie, 40 minutes during their playoff run.
What he didn’t intend to was leave guard Tamara Moore on the bench, not logging a minute in Game 1 against Seattle. Moore started 33 of the 34 regular season games, averaging 6.1 points and 2.1 rebounds.
“I got brain locked,” said Bryant of the oversight. “We all get brain locked every now and again. But she’s ready, she accepted what happened in Seattle. And as a man, I went up to her and apologized. A lot of coaches don’t do that. I said, ‘I want to apologize to you and stay ready.’ I think she took that to heart, so that’s good.”
