Good news for Bird

Storm guard Sue Bird was diagnosed with a nose contusion following her visit to a Los Angeles area ear, nose, and throat doctor this morning. A contusion, according to the University of Michigan’s medical site, is a bruise that will be gone within a few days.
Bird, who sustained the injury after being elbowed in the face by Sparks guard Tamara Moore with 54.1 seconds remaining, will play in Game 3 on Tuesday, although she’ll more than likely have to do so with her protective mask. A Storm spokeswoman said the player “looks good and acts fine.”
Bird, who will visit the team’s own ear, nose, and throat doctor once the team returns home on Wednesday, will be available for comment at practice this afternoon.
