Speaking in tongues

Storm guard Betty Lennox gets a bad rap for her tendency to speak in third person. A fan in Phoenix likes to point it out whenever he reads an interview about “Betty on Betty” and I’ve even teased her about it.
The topic came up again during halftime of Game 3 in Los Angeles between me and Wendy Carpenter, who covers the team for The News Tribune. While speaking in third person is prevalent in the NBA we couldn’t think of a single woman in or out of sports who does same. Then I picked up the August issue of Cosmopolitan, which was left behind in my airplane seat on Wednesday. (Trust me, I don’t regularly read the magazine, but that’s no knock to those who do)
There on page 160 was this gem revelation in a box on celebs who’ve suffered through a divorce from “Sopranos” star Jamie-Lynn Sigler. “Being 24 and single again, you learn a lot about yourself. This is the time to find out what Jamie wants, who Jamie is.”
Gee, maybe Betty can get Betty to talk to Jamie about finding Jamie because Betty has been there before.
