Number crunching

Storm All-Star Lauren Jackson is 14 points shy of her career 4,000th. Impressive in itself, but then add the fact that she would be the youngest player to do so by, oh, five years!
Houston All-Star Tina Thompson, a WNBA original, scored her 4,000th point at age 31. If Jackson hits the mark on Friday against Indiana, she’d reach the plateau by age 26 and after just seven summers in the league. (FYI, she scored 17 in the team’s loss to the Fever earlier this season.)
Jackson will have played 209 games by Friday, meaning she shaved 21 games off reaching the mark compared to Los Angeles center Lisa Leslie, who was 32 and had played 230 games when she reached 4,000. Others in the elite group are Detroit guard Katie Smith and Houston forward Sheryl Swoopes.
