The nominees are…

The WNBA is awarding its inaugural Sixth Woman of the Year honor this season and Sacramento plans to nominate All-Star guard Kara Lawson, who makes the decision tough. Have you seen her numbers? But, as a voter, I’ve also got to look at Detroit forward Plenette Pierson . And anyone wearing a New York Liberty jersey, probably because I feel they were wronged an All-Star representative, would have to be considered for Most Improved, regardless of the recent seven-game losing streak. The Monarchs’ pick in Rebekkah Brunson is a tight , Storm fans saw how she collected nine offensive rebounds to keep Seattle at bay, and we’ll see what she does tonight.
The only rule for the new award is that they sub more than they start. As The Sacramento Bee reports, there are 12 national media members voting along with three reps from the individual teams. Storm radio broadcasters Alan Horton and Adia Barnes join me as the voters out of Seattle. Horton and Barnes are already clear they’re voting Lauren Jackson for MVP, but haven’t been public about the other categories. Ballots were recieved today and are due Aug. 20.
