Jackson and Burse out

Storm starting post players Lauren Jackson and Janell Burse will not play in the team’s trip to Minnesota and Detroit this week. Jackson returned to her native Australia to be with an ill family member and Burse is hampered by a left wrist injury, which she’ll undergo surgery on to repair Aug. 14. She remained in Seattle and will be examined again on Friday.
Jackson, the league’s leading scorer (23.8), is expected to play in Saturday’s home game against Washington. Burse, who was sore after the loss to Sacramento on Friday and could play only 15 minutes in the win against Phoenix on Saturday, remains day to day until her surgery.
Burse said she can’t cause too much more damage to the wrist by playing, it’s just a matter of how much pain she can handle. But waiting until after any possible playoff run would cause worse long-term problems.
