Award watch

Got an interesting call today. Seems the WNBA is going to announce one of its prestigious awards in the Storm locker room prior to Game 1 against Phoenx tomorrow. But before everyone gets excited, it’s not going to be for MVP.
The league will wait to announce that, which normally occurs during the WNBA Finals, but that’s subject to change.
As for tomorrow, the only one left for Lauren Jackson to win is Defensive Player of the Year. Jackson could become the first player since Houston’s Sheryl Swoopes in 2000 to win both MVP and DPY in the same season.
Given that the majority of the national experts with votes and a solid handful of voters from the various WNBA cities all said they voted for Jackson, we’ll go on a (strong) limb and say good onya to the Aussie. Now use that defense to defeat Phoenix.
