Feeling at home

Apparently Phoenix just needed to spruce up KeyArena to get a comfy feeling in order to win. The Mercury dressed up the KeyArena visitor’s locker room with a massive playoff sign displaying their theme “ONE: Team, City, Goal”
The Purple definitely looked a little closer to a home locker room instead of the sterile high-school look it used to have. And it showed the nerve of Phoenix to redecorate on the road. Teams have brought in better TV sets in the past, but never in my eight years have I seen a team display their colors so proudly on the road.
Guard Diana Taurasi reiterated the theme in her postgame interview, saying it was the entire team that helped shut down the game’s best player, Lauren Jackson. And it was truly the difference in the game. Phoenix communicated and helped each other while Seattle got fussy and frustrated until breaking out of a shell in the final quarter.
Now the Storm has to win on the road, which it has only been able to do five times this season. They’ll practice today before departing on an afternoon flight. Hope they pack a poster.
