Taurasi breaks it down

Phoenix guard Diana Taurasi recapped her win on Friday in her latest blog entry. Seems the usual suspects plus former Storm reserve Barbara Turner went out to dinner. Turner, who plays for Houston now, and Chicago forward Candice Dupree were in attendnce last night — Dupree supporting Ashley Robinson, who was acquired via trade from the Sky last summer.
The Mercury didn’t practice today; the Storm watched film and did an hour session before traveling to Phoenix. With Game 2 being a 4 p.m. tip-off Sunday, it’s a tight turnaround for the Storm, which is fighting to stay alive in the best-of-three series.
Storm coach Anne Donovan commented about this but said she felt confident. All-Star Lauren Jackson described the practice as “tense” and the players appeared to have a switch finally turned on as they walked off the court to shower and board the bus to catch their flight.
In 2004, there was a similar vibe — a leaf turning over so to speak — as former Storm forward Sheri Sam had everyone ready to make that memorable championship run. Friday’s embarrassing loss probably provided the fire this time. We’ll see in less than 24 hours.
