Storm cuts two rookies

Storm coach Brian Agler announced that rookie G Allie Quigley and F/C Natalie Doma were cut following practice.
Quigley started training camp strong, making her outside shot and performing well on defense. But her stock dropped and Agler, who’s also director of player personnel, made note of it. He pointed to her poor showing in Chicago, were the Illinois native played college hoops at DePaul. Quigley was 0-for-6 in 19 minutes, playing before friends and family. Agler said the miserable night may have led to a loss in confidence for Quigley.
Doma, who didn’t get many reps in the media viewing portition of practice, was a step behind and needs a season overseas before breaking into the W. She does have a contract to play in France this fall and Agler mentioned that Quigley also has some opportunities lined up overseas.
G Tanisha Wright’s presence made Agler make the cuts. But the coach said he believes they can make an impact elsewhere — possibly this season for Quigley. We’ll have more on this and Wright’s arrival in Friday’s newspaper.
