Presidential visit

Known around her NYC office as the original energizer bunny, WNBA president Donna Orender is expected to be at KeyArena on Saturday to help unveil the new era in Storm basketball. I’m writing “expected” because she’s going on another of those whirlwind tours where you’re amazed she can make the all the connecting flights and still know her and most of the players’ names.
“I don’t know how she does it,” one employee commented recently.
Tip-off weekend begins with Orender in Phoenix so she can give the champs their rings during their afternoon opener on ABC. She’ll leave around halftime to be in Seattle for the Storm’s evening opener. Then she’ll take a red-eye to NYC and trek to Madison Square Garden for New York’s 2008 debut.
All of that after already spending this past week traveling and smoothing feathers over the McDonald’s logo debate. The campaign, by the way, will include the fast food chain’s logo on the court, sideline ads, chair backs and on hoop padding at the Key on May 20 when the Storm hosts the Monarchs. It’s part of the promotional deal for nationally televised games.
The onslaught ends nationally June 6.
