Checking in on Indiana

The Storm concluded shootaround and C Yolanda Griffith was out on the court with the team, practicing with no apparent complications. She said before that her left ankle is still “tender” and she’ll wear a brace to protect her left knee, but not for the whole season because “it clashes with my outfit.” Griffith told Indiana F Tamika Catchings that she’d be in the starting lineup tonight.
I counted four uses of the word “scary” when Catchings’ name was brought up in reference to her return to the court after suffering a torn right Achilles in the Eastern Conference Finals last season. She was second to Storm F Lauren Jackson for the MVP title. Heck, she’s been in the top-10 since she joined the league in 2001, never winning.
Catch will play off the bench tonight, giving the Fever a huge advantage if Storm reserves Ashley Robinson, Shyra Ely, Katie Gearlds, and Tanisha Wright (if Yo starts) don’t produce. Even the Indianapolis papers focused on the bench, featuring veteran Allison Feaster.
Seattle (7-6) has nothing to reflect on since Indiana (6-4) only has three players remaining on the roster from when the Fever played the Storm during the exhibition season. But as Jackson said, the focus is more on themselves and snapping the three-game losing streak.
