Team USA wins tourney

Team USA won the Diamond Ball Tournament, its Olympic tune-up. The Americans defeated Australia today behind center Lisa Leslie’s double-double in the 71-67 finish. Storm point guard Sue Bird was the third-leading scorer with 11. It’s the first tournament the players have competed in together as a unit, following three quick days of practice at Stanford University last week. Team USA will begin Olympic play Saturday against the Czech Republic.
Here are some post-game interviews posted by FIBA:

And here’s a video of point guard Becky Hammon, who had one day of practice before playing with the Russians against Team USA on Monday. The Russians won today, defeating Mali for fifth place. Following Hammon are interviews from former WNBA players Svetlana Ambrosimova (Minnesota) and Maria Steponova (Phoenix)
