Checking in on Minnesota

Minnesota is far from the team that started the season on a five-game win streak, making the entire league take notice. But the Lynx can still wiggle their way into the postseason by winning. Minnesota (14-15) is tied with Houston at just two games behind Sacramento (16-14) for the fourth and final berth in the Western Conference.
So, tonight’s game will be full of playoff drama. Yet, with the Storm returning from a 2-1 road trip, clinching their own berth, and holding a 14-1 record at KeyArena, I’m not predicting the Lynx to have a shot a winning. The Storm has bigger goals and the Lynx are just another obstacle to tackle in order to reach them.
Everyone from Seattle’s camp participated in shoot-around this morning, which was attended by the owners. F Sheryl Swoopes is still hampered by her left foot, so coach Brian Agler is going with the same starting lineup used in Chicago — G Sue Bird, G Tanisha Wright, F Swin Cash, F Camille Little, and C Yolanda Griffith.
Agler said he expects F Lauren Jackson to return on the 10th and she’ll begin by continuing to rehabilitate her right ankle in Seattle. There’s no timetable for her to play until Agler gets a close look at Jackson, but if all continues to go well for the Storm, she’ll be in the lineup for the postseason.
“Our focus right now is each game,” Agler said. “Just try to play as well as we can and try to put ourselves in the best position we can.”
