Huskies sign Anderson

AnotherAnderson12.jpgWashington coach Tia Jackson announced the signing of Spokane’s Lewis and Clark senior Jeneva Anderson today (player pictured far right). It’s the opening of player signings in basketball. Anderson, a 6-foot forward, was part of two of the Tigers’ three consecutive 4A state championships. She averaged 10.8 points and 5.3 rebounds last season.
Anderson, who has family in the Seattle area, was excited for the opportunity to return to what she refers to as home. She told the Spokesman Review in October that, “I miss the Seattle area and really wanted to get back home. I was born in Seattle and lived there until I was 12. It came down to both of the Washington schools, but I really clicked with the Huskies and feel it is a great choice.”
Washington only has one more scholarship to offer. Jackson said she’s keeping her list small to continue to build a family atmosphere with her team. UCLA transfer Regina Rogers, who shined at Chief Sealth, will be eligible to play next season.
“Jeneva’s shooting ability — off the pass and off the dribble — combined with an athleticism and lengthy wing span adds to the depth of our team, making us even more efficient on both ends,” Jackson said in a press release. “We are extremely excited to have such a wonderful young lady and student-athlete join our Husky family.”
