Connecticut makes history with latest college basketball poll

UConn’s 3-0 finish in the Caribbean Classic helped the Huskies move ahead of Tennessee in the history books. Connecticut (10-0) was a unanimous pick for No. 1 for the fourth consecutive week, giving the school 113 stints in the top slot. That surpassed the Vols’ 112 and it looks like the Huskies are going to keep going.
As for the hometown Huskies, I’m going to reserve too much more comment until I’m able to talk to coach Tia Jackson. The public relations staff’s cell didn’t get international reception, preventing an interview prior to Washington’s return from Cancun Mexico, where UW lost to UConn by 58-points. But I will say comments about the school being expected to lose against UConn should be an insult to the team and the game.
The purple Huskies play in the Pac-10. That means they’ve played against top-ranked Stanford, rising California, and former powers UCLA and USC practically since their inception. Connecticut doesn’t have anything Washington’s players haven’t seen on Stanford’s roster in the past. Need I remind you of a woman named Candice Wiggins?
Washington’s performance is inexcusable. Especially losing to teams like Northern Colorado and Weber State.
I get rebuilding. But those are the matchups you have to win just to prove you’re still on the right path.
